"NAZRAWI"
The Nazarite Legacy from Ancient to Modern Times
written by Mighi Tsadiq, illustrated by Ras Julio.

The Nazarites (Nazrawi) are men and women, religious devotees, who have made an ancient vow, entering a special, sometimes extreme, spiritual pathway.
The Biblical vow is described in chapter 6 of the Old Testament Book of Numbers and it is mentioned in several other parts of the Bible.
This antique act of faith is not only associated with some prominent Old and New Testament characters, but also connected to the Judeo-Christian tradition at large, as reported by several other ancient sources.

This book investigates the Nazarite vow's relevance in Judeo-Christianity from ancient to modern times as well as its strong presence in Christian Orthodoxy, with particular reference to the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox tradition.
The research then progresses into an overview of elements of the Nazarite vow that can be found in many other spiritual traditions.

Finally the analysis dives into the characteristics of the main Nazarites mentioned, addressing the reasons for their vows, listing their common traits.
The work is enhanced by great contributions from other authors, such as Ras Julio's drawings, which accompany the text, and his additional chapter on the Nazarite vow related to the Rastafari Movement, and the introduction and the ending chapter by Guillaume Goerg.

A book that can enrich those who are directly interested in the Nazarite vow or in early oriental christianity, as well as those investigating the spiritual and ascetic traditions of the World in general.
